Episode 10: David Mack, creator of Kabuki

This past summer I took a road trip out to San Diego with my best friend for an event called Tr!ckster. This is where I met one of the most inspiring people to date, David Mack! He is filled with so much positive energy and uplifting words, yet I was still in shock when Mr. Mack himself said one of his favorite passions is writing! Now, if you have not had a chance to pick up a volume of Kabuki, put them ALL on your Christmas list! I am still blown away by the depth in every image as they tell stories Mack's words guide you through. I have been fortunate enough to have read parts of the Kabuki series and own a few Reflections comic books (which is something else you might want to buy for a friend or loved one) and I must say, my state of mind has blossomed into a new level of insight just by reading these books. I wish I had more to say but, honestly.... David Mack's work speaks for itself. Here is the man behind Kabuki to give you a little insight on Kabuki himself, enjoy!

Rabbit Rundown (ep.9) with Dino Foxx of Yarn Dawgz

Dino Foxx. Such an extraordinary person. Dino and I met early in 2011. We were discussing the backdrop Blu and I were collaborating on for the Push Pens set. Dino.. well he was making us laugh throughout the entire project! His stories are moving, his voice is beautiful, and his confidence allows him to rock the Mic on stage better than any theater junkie I know! So as you can tell, Dino quickly became someone I admire but, that happened when he introduced me to Yarn Dawgz! Now if you haven't heard of the Yarn Dawgz, take a moment to open another tab and search for them on Facebook or Google! Trust me, you will be blown away.. I know I was. I spent most of my high school days reading juxtapoz and during one of these days I noticed yarn graffiti.. different styles and colors from all over the states! I used to dream about seeing something similar in person. I would wish my street posts were covered in yarn! Naturally.. when I noticed yarn graffiti in my home town, I felt soo inspired.. but when I found out Dino was apart of Yarn Dawgz and this entire yarn movement in San Antonio, I was overwhelmed with excitement. He told me stories about reactions from the community then ended the conversation by telling me how much he enjoys spreading joy with color in our community and that moment really touched my heart. As an artist I can admire this, but as a member of our community... I appreciate Dino's work more than any words can explain... If I ever feel like giving up on anything, I can take a walk around the King William district and remember that dreams come true. Yarn Dawgz are beautifying our streets and now you can pick up one of a kind pieces for your home! I am soo proud to bring you all this exclusive interview with Dino as he tells us all about Yarn Dawgz and their upcoming endeavors!

Rabbit Rundown(ep.6) with Bluzilla One

Here we are at episode 6! To think, the first episode was uploaded just mid August from my webcam to promote The St.Jude's benefit at Art Vibes! Every Rabbit Rundown since has been a learning experience and a lot of fun. I like the idea of these random on the spot videos with people who are doing things and making moves. These videos have been great promotion but, they're also about having fun and keeping it real. I feel as if I can show you, the viewer, a deeper look at some of these oh so inspiring people just by interacting with them normally and knocking off! Now, most of you already see this interaction between Bluzilla and I so, we stepped it up a notch. With help from ADLopez, we sat down and did a full on interview. Recently Bluzilla and I took a trip to Corpus for the Friends and Lovers Transmissions themed art show at the House of Rock in Corpus Christi so, we started with a simple Q&A about this event as well as other art shows. As the Rabbit Rundown continued, jokes started slipping out and laughter fills the audio waves! Special thanks to Bluzilla for allowing me to get an inside scoop and share some laughs.  Adolph did an amazing job of producing this rundown and the amazing intro as well. These are 2 of my favorite people and closest friends .. this Rabbit Rundown (ep.6) with Bluzilla One has been the ultimate collaboration, enjoy!

Rabbit Rundown (ep.4)- Collab'n Couples: Werds & Denise

Werds. Where do I begin with this character? We've done quite a bit of shows together and I have seen plenty of cool creations come out of this guy. Lately he's been painting models at Club Rio for Emjay's Play at Night body art show. This past week's theme was "Golden Goddess" and I noticed Werd's signature style really came out!  Now I wonder.. Did Werd do something special or was it his model/girlfriend Denise Hernandez? So  I caught up with the two at Art Vibes to get some feedback on what its like to share your passion with someone you're already so passionate about.. Here it is, your Rabbit Rundown..

Now you've got the inside scoop with Werds and Denise on body art, mushy feelings, and overall enjoying events. Want more? stay tuned and share with your friends!!
thanks for the love,
Rabbit!

Rabbit Rundown (ep.3)- "Wabbit Walk up" @ St. Jude's Benefit

Collabs, raffle tickets, beer specials, amazing artists, awesome friends, hip hop, and creativity.. This was Art Vibes in a nutshell last night. I can not thank EVERYONE enough for coming out and showing some love!! Last night really motivated me into believing that anything is possible! This entire benefit was just an idea I kicked at Blu on our drive home from San Diego. It bounced back and forth between myself and with others. I decided 5 days ago that Art Vibes was the place to do it. Blu designed an astonishing flyer and the event page was posted 2am- THE DAY OF THE BENEFIT!
Ultimate thanks to Bluzilla for the flyer design
and Adolph Lopez for the photo
52 of you RSVP'd and many people made it out to Studio 13 for a cause! All I wanted for my birthday was for everyone to come together, have a good time, and help those in need. Together we, as a whole, raised over $100 for St.Jude's Children's Hospital! This hospital helps find cures for sick children in families that can not afford to healthcare. This whole idea just melts my heart. Maybe the kids I have worked with rubbed off, or maybe I just enjoy sharing. Either way, there's a strong passion within me for this cause and it was definitely at Art Vibes tonight!
Special thanks to Studio 13 for supporting Art Vibes and allowing us to throw super cool parties like this one! None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for you all who go out and support our events, shows, and most of all our art! Blu, you really had my back 100 on this and I am ever so grateful! Thank you thank you thank you!!! You all made my birthday wishes come true!

For those of you who couldn't make it out, no worries we will have plenty of benefits in the near future. Missed the party? well thats fine, you can still enjoy something sweet, I'm giving you something a little different with the Rabbit Rundown. Here is some footage from at "Rabbit's Birthday Benefit for St. Jude's" filmed especially for the Art Vibes blog! I hope you laugh! Check it out and if you enjoyed it share it.

We flipped the script and tonight I bring you a special version of the rundown,

Rabbit Rundown(ep.2) with Adolph Lopez

When it comes to film, whether it is video or photography, Adolph Lopez has been dominating the San Antonio Art scene. This year started off with a bang when Adolph released not only photos but video footage covering Artslam!'s 5 year anniversary with two of L.A's funkiest artist, Jim Mahfood (aka Food One) and Dave Crosland (aka King Gum) . As an artist who both attends and promotes Artslam!, I must say I was very impressed by everything Adolph captured. Personally, I  shared the video about a hundred times with everyone I came in contact with! Art Vibes began the following month and  Adolph's passion for captivating not only "the moment" but the feeling of the atmosphere blossomed in front of our eyes. Viewers were given an artistic insight on the world of live art. Its no wonder this guy makes great videos, he knows how to capture great moments! Since then,Adolph has taken photos and video footage from some of this years best events including Sneaks Up, Blacknote's Circus of the Arts, Beyond the Canvas, and just finished a promo video for this year's San Antonio DMC champ, QBase.

Find Adolph's videos here:http://www.vimeo.com/adlopez210

I hope you all enjoyed this rundown and be sure to be on the look out for not only the next Rabbit Rundown but.. for Adolph's next video- Artslam!: Pixels vs Panels!  I appreciate the love/ support from all of the viewers, followers, and artists involved!
